Sony tried to acquire Pure Digital, the makers of the FLIP cam, a couple of years ago but the deal fell through. They also encountered resistance from engineers in Japan when they wanted to create their own "low quality" digicam, but in the end, they forged ahead and are ready to sell the "Webbie" in March at only $170!!! It's specs are quite respectable, 5 megapixels, 1440x1080pixel MPEG-4 videos with a USB connector and swivel camera.
The only "drawback" I see in this device, is their insistence on Memory Stick PRO DUO media. Other than that, it's quite interesting to see Sony embrace the YouTUBE generation and finally get it right.
